It’s awful for students to feel uncomfortable with new ideas, even if new ideas might be needed to deal with the big problems facing the world.

It’s easy to complain about what you don’t want. It’s much harder to say what you do want. And even harder to be able to say how you will know that you are getting what you want.

But if you want to avoid frustration, confusion, and disappointment, tell people what you want and tell them how you will know when you have it.
