I read that artist DeGrassia burned many of his pictures to protest the inheritance tax. At the very least we need to change the inheritance tax so that inheritors don’t get a stepped up tax base on the value of property they inherit and it is never taxed.
I completely agree. I was shocked when I learned about the stepped up tax basis for inherited property. But as Wednesday’s comic said, it’s government of the people by the rich for the rich. Interesting about DeGrassia – I wasn’t aware of that.
