My first experience with this quote was in a fortune cookie where it was attributed to some Chinese philosopher. I carried it in my wallet for a number of years until I lost it. Your misattribution statement got me doing some looking and I found this:

It’s obvious that we Americans need this now and as a liberal it’s obvious that those dumb conservatives need to practice this. But for me as of late, it is readily apparent that the hyper progressives need to be reminded of this as well.

Many of my posts that involve Jesus are based on a belief that He wanted us to be kind to others, especially the poor and disenfranchised.
