I often ask conservative friends and family members that are on Medicare why I can’t be part of their single payer socialized medical system that they love so much. Not much of an answer in reply. The real answer, I think, is that now that they have it – they don’t want to share.

It could also be that they feel their taxes will go up – that’s the common fear. Interestingly, in 2017, employers + employees contributed an average of $6,690 for individual and $18,763 for family health insurance. Which is in effect a tax that could otherwise have gone to the employee. A topic for a future Cat World!
