It is hard to get the figures, but it looks like the frozen Afghani funds going to victims of 9/11 is very small compared to the amount of nonmilitary aid given to Afghanistan by the US. In just one year 2011, the US gave more in nonmilitary aid than is going to the victims of 9/11. In other words, the frozen funds came from the US in the first place. There would probably be no frozen funds if the US had not given aid to Afghanistan in the first place.
Interesting point. It does then beg the question as to why we are giving US money to the families, considering they already got money and there are many other victims of violence in this country who have never received a penny from the government.
